According to a recently released survey report by the Pew Internet and American Life Project, nearly 72 per cent of Americans make use of text based service every day.

The figure rose from the 62 per cent which was stated nine months ago. American teenagers, aged between 12-17 years, skew the findings still they exchange texts 5 times more than adults.

The Pew Research Center found that an average adult in US exchanges 10 text messages each day while an average teenager exchanges 50 text messages every day.

It was also stated that approximately 5 per cent of adults exchange staggering 200 text messages each day, where 18 per cent adults that are aged between 18-24 years.

It was further stated adults who totally rely on texts who offer voice calling, light text keep aloof from making voice calls.

The research firm further stated: "African American and Hispanic cell phone users are more intense and frequent users of all of the phone's capabilities than whites. Minorities send more text messages and make more calls on average than their white counterparts."
