Google’s homepage features a “fast, fun, and interactive” bouncing-balls logo

With Google’s homepage Tuesday featuring a doodle having multi-hued fast-moving balls, there were speculations galore that the company’s new interactive logo probably commemorated that 12th birthday of the Internet search giant, which reportedly “opened its doors in September 1998.”

The new animated version of the Google doodle consists of a multitude of bouncing balls that come together to form the company’s logo. However, once the users steer the cursor towards these balls, they fly apart and flee around the window.

Though Google is yet to official disclose what it is actually trying to put across with its latest animated custom logo, a report in London’s Telegraph quotes a statement from a Google spokeswoman, who said: “Today's doodle is fast, fun and interactive, just the way we think search should be.”

Meanwhile, as per a PC World write-up – which though echoes the possibility that the logo honors Google 12th anniversary –, it is likely that the doodle commemorates the 15th anniversary of JavaScript; a possibility that stems from the fact that the Web’s HTML 5 language has been used rather than Adobe Flash.

In addition, some reports also hint at the possibility that Google’s new bouncing-balls logo either underscores the company’s progress in HTML5, or is an advance indication of the forthcoming search-related press event at its Mountain View, California, headquarters on Wednesday.
