Orlando Reports State’s First West Nile Death of the Year

Orlando today reported state's foremost West Nile casualty for the year.

A man in his early 80s, who dwelled in the eastern region of Orange County, gave in recently, after suffering from mosquito-borne infectivity, as informed by the health officers in the county. However, they did not inform about the precise date, which is only to protect the deceased's privacy.

This was the second confirmed case in the county that has resulted in death.

In the previous month, a 40-year-old man living in western parts of Orange County was infected with the virus and now he is back home under recovery phase.

Dain Weister, spokesman for the Orange County Health Department, said that none of these men had traveled or were bitten by mosquitoes.

It is in the most recent times that mosquitoes have become active.

Due to this, health officers have increased the Mosquito-Borne Illness Advisory that was issued on Aug. 23 for the county to a Mosquito-Borne Illness Alert.

Weister said that these cases that sprung up were reported from two various parts of the province.

It is important that residents consult their doctors if they mark any of these symptoms: fever, neck stiffness or headache, which is common to many other diseases too.
