The word ‘censored’ was being slapped by the Craigslist at the spot wherever the link of adult services appeared.
The letter was send by 17 Attorneys General to the Chief executive of Craigslist, Jim Buckmaster and Founder Craig Newmark, advising them that the number of ads for prostitution including ads on trafficking children, are increasing in the section.
No indication was given by the site before taking any action, however, they took an action 17 days after sending the letter.
The site was appreciated by the human rights groups on Tuesday for having practiced such an activity, but the groups said that something more should be done to drop the adult or ‘erotic’ pages available on the site.
However, the section is still available to the adult services in the US, and in other countries, it is still known by its former name of erotic services.
Other organizations said in their statement, "While this is a good first step in the U.S., there are still more than 250 other Craigslist 'erotic' pages around the world where children and young women are still being sold for sex through Craigslist”.
They further added that it was high time that Craigslist puts an end to all its 'erotic' services sections, as being a global Company it had the responsibility to take care of the global impact that its services had been making on the world so far.
