As per the reports, on Thursday as many as 186 beneficiaries under the Core and Emergency Shelter Assistance Program were given financial aid by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
The recipients who were under the Core Shelter Assistance Program (CSAP) received P70,000.00 each while P6,000.00 each was received by the beneficiaries of the Emergency Shelter Assistance Program
(ESAP). The beneficiaries belonged to the municipalities of Ambaguio, Bagabag, Bambang and Sta. Fe. Also, their respective municipal social welfare officers and Municipal Mayors were also with the beneficiaries.
Confirming the same, DSWD Regional Director for Cagayan Valley, Arnel Garcia said P742,000.00 was the total amount received by the ESAP recipients. Also, an assistance of P7.1 million would be given for the construction of 110 core shelter units that would be located in Ambaguio, Bambang, Bagabag and Sta. Fe towns.
Encouring both the ESAP and CSAP beneficiaries to be more actively involved in the helping, he emphasized, "All the funds given to the beneficiaries were properly accounted to the last centavo. You must be a model not only for us but for your neighbors and fellow typhoon victims. Help them as you have been helped".
Appreciating the aid efforts, Garcia added that the provision of ESAP and CSAP was in tune with the cost-effective policy of the Regional Disaster Coordinating Council (RDCC) for Cagayan Valley, as the valley witnessed several typhoons.
