Salads, Not Really Healthy
Salads

People buy salads because they think they are good for health, but a recent research in UK has shown that high levels of salt is present in many purchased or packaged salads.

A survey was conducted by Consensus Action on Salt and Health, which studied 268 salads, including rice, bean, cous cous and noodle based salads, which are popular at fast food chains and restaurants.

The survey has found that most of the salads are packed with high amounts of salts. It has been reported by the CASH that people often feel overstuffed, after having hidden salt in the salad dressings, processed meats like salami and bacon and pickles.

This might prove bad for their health as feeling stuffed or bloated can be the symptoms of water retention.

Salt puts the health at risk and specifically sodium, which is a harmful ingredient in salt, can seriously affect the health of people. Conditions like osteoporosis, kidney disease, high blood pressure and stomach cancer are the most common health risks.

“High salt intake is linked to high blood pressure and high blood pressure is a leading cause of stroke”, said Mark Vivian, CEO of the Stroke Foundation.

So, the consumers should be alerted about the significant findings of the CASH, as many of them could unintentionally consume salt more than their daily limit.
