It has been reported that a new reciprocal health agreement has been signed with the UK by the Isle of Man Government. The original agreement had to end by April 2010, but a time period had been granted to the island, till September 2010.
Now, this new agreement would allow free of cost hospital care for the Manx residents who are traveling in the UK. This is because, if this new agreement wouldn’t have been signed now, then the Manx residents would have needed a health insurance. But now, they wouldn’t need it.
Chief Minister Tony Brown MHK announced this deal as a good day for the Isle of Man, where it was declared today morning. Also, in the UK, the statement had been tabled in the House of Commons.
Brown said, “The signing of a new Reciprocal Healthcare Agreement between the Isle of Man and the UK is very welcome news for the people of the island and for visitors to our shores”.
This document has been signed today by Chief Minister Tony Brown, Health Minister David Anderson and Anne Milton MP, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Public Health. It has been said that for getting this agreement signed, there lies the support and hard work of many people.
