eBay and Alibaba trying for better options in China

US's eBay and its Chinese counterpart, Alibaba are looking for ways to explore the online partnership that they have built in China. The two companies are the top two when it comes to e-commerce.

The two companies were often seen as each other rival as both of them wanted to be the market leader not only in their own countries but also abroad. But after they saw that it was tough to be the lone player mostly in the emerging markets and that it is why they came together to leverage each others' advantage.

Said eBay's CEO John Donahoe during an event in Hangzhou, Today our focus in China is not to compete in the domestic market. What we're trying to do is connect you, the Chinese sellers, with consumers around the world."

The opportunities, in China particularly, are huge and with competition is killing their advantage, the two CEOs said.

While Alibaba includes names like Taobao, which is China's largest online retail website, eBay too has over the years gained ground in the region. The deal now allows both these companies to source their work from China now.
