Ofcom, the communication regulator, has announced increasing its 3G broadcasting power limit, so as to provide its customers a decent 3G signal.
With the access to powerful 3G signal, the mobile operators will be facilitated with more coverage and signal strength. It will solve the problem of a number of smartphone users who are facing signal trouble.
The broadcasting power limit would be enhanced to 65dBm from 62dBm that would enable the operators to raise the power of their transmitters from 1.5kW to 3kW. Though the Company wanted to get a 68dBm limit, the operators’ worry that it won’t be compatible if the available infrastructure didn’t let it to move ahead.
“Vodafone requested an increase, so we decided to grant all network operators an increase, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they will all do it”, said an Ofcom spokesman.
He further added that the upgradation will help improving voice capacity, data volume and in-building signal availability. He also confirmed posing no threat to the services in other spectrum bands.
Orange introduced HD voice service for its users last month to make them have clear conversations both during walking and in surroundings filled with noise.
