BT and Cisco Announce a Deal

As declared today, an agreement has been made between Content Delivery System (CDS) of Cisco and Content Connect, BT's wholesale broadband TV platform, as per which the former will provide content to the latter on various portals. The accord will make BT Wholesale’s Content Connect to cater to whole of the UK, whose realization will take place in 2011.

"Working with Cisco enables us to offer an efficient, long-term solution that brings the power of broadband and content together”, said Simon Orme, Strategy Director of BT Wholesale's content services.

As facilitated by the deal, BT Wholesale Content Connect will sell the digital content to ISPs that they would distribute to computers, TVs and mobile devices, enabling customers to access a quality of service (QoS) of viewing.

Presently, ISPs face problem of poor quality of sequenced content on getting nearer to the network’s edge. With the Cisco's Content Delivery Network, the content will be provided with increased QoS, making way from the network’s congestion.

Even during the busy times, the users will be able to access the streamed content or media without any disturbance and with adequate QoS. BT Wholesale’s platform will also enable customers to check network status and broadband statistics.
