HP close to signing deal with ArcSight

After long finally Hewlett-Packard (HP) has made headlines without a mention of its thrown out CEO, Mark Hurd.

The IT giant is about to end a deal with security software maker ArcSight, for buying it out. The total worth of the deal is $1.5 billion and means will cost HP a little over $43 per share. A premium of 24 per cent is going to be paid to ArcSight for the same and the news was first reported on the Wall Street Journal.

ArcSight is known in the market for its digital and Internet security systems. It was able to generate a mere $48 million as revenue during the last quarter, but was able to generate a sales of 38 per cent year-on-year.

HP is the company that was able to defeat to Dell Computers by winning the bid for 3PAR. While that deal was considered to be expensive, HP was able to win it because it simply outbid Dell.

Meanwhile, the tussle between HP and Oracle for Mark Hurd continues to intensify . Mark had the reputation of bringing life into HP.
