Oracle and NetApp settle Patent clash

Oracle and NetApp seemingly have agreed to settle for a three-year long patent infringement lawsuit.

It was further added that the lawsuit was initially fought amidst NetApp and Sun Microsystems, but when Oracle acquired Sun, the fight further continued. It was further claimed that both the firms had agreed to drop the charges and make progress.

Tom Georgens, CEO of NetApp stated: "For more than a decade, Oracle and NetApp have shared a common vision focused on providing solutions that reduce IT cost and complexity for thousands of customers worldwide."

NetApp at the same time filed a petition against Sun in 2007, stating that Sun has crossed the lines in regard of patents in Sun's Zettabyte File System.

Another patent suit filed by Sun, claimed that NetApp had crossed Sun patents and will be offering royalty fees to firms.

A statement released by NetApp claimed that the firm will offer services along with Oracle and at the same time offering better solution offerings for mutual customers for better experience.
