A woman from Nottingham is demanding compensation, as she has claimed that post hysterectomy; she experienced continual pain, which was due to a swab that was left inside her, while she was undergoing operation.
Susan Misiewicz from Cotgrave underwent hysterectomy, at the Nottingham Woodthorpe Hospital that is privately owned.
The swab, tea towel sized, was left inside her while she underwent a second operation, in order to stop internal bleeding, in the month of July 2009.
The hospital authority informed that it had discussed the matter with its legal representative and was in the process of resolving the issue.
Mrs. Misiewicz said that she had no clue what the problem was, but after undergoing the operation, she felt ill for weeks.
She said that the phase was completely a nightmare for her and the she did not even feel like getting out of her bed in the mornings.
Also, she informed that that NHS had offered an option of undergoing operation in a private hospital, but she chose Nottingham Woodthorpe Hospital, since it was convenient and faster for her to get operated at this place.
NHS Nottinghamshire County spokesperson said that investigations would be conducted and ensured that apt moves will be taken to tackle the issue.
