The 2010 Cops for Cancer Tour de Rock cyclists will be welcomed into the community by Campbell River soon.

The Tour de Rock is an engrossing cycle tour from one corner of Vancouver Island whose cause is to raise money for pediatric cancer research and also for Goodtimes, which is a fun getaway for kids who have fought cancer. The Cops for Cancer team comprises of police officers from all over the Island.

The various events to look forward to are head shavings, cheque presentations, a Formula 1 racing car, a bounce-a-rama and a barbecue.

The events start from 4 p. m. onwards at the venue which is the Campbell River Common. The participants are expected to arrive there by 4:30 p. m. an important feature of the event has always been head-shaving where dozens of people volunteer to have their heads shaved off to raise funds for the Canadian Cancer Society.

The head shaving signifies the cops’ solidarity with the people who have lost their hair because of cancer treatment.

Following history, even the children grow their hair long and then cut them off, donating them to 'Locks of Love' which makes wigs for kids who have lost hair.
