The numbers of cases of anthrax, reported in Bangladesh swelled to 589, as four fresh cases of anthrax were reported over the past twenty four hours. The announcement has been made by the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR), Bangladesh.
The IEDCR further announced that out of the sixty-four districts in Bangladesh only twelve have been affected. The disease was first reported in the Sirajganj district of Bangladesh on the 18th of August.
The disease has spread across Bangladesh like fire and the Government of Bangladesh had announced a red-alert on the 5th of September. The Government has been making efforts to curb the spread of the disease and there have been joint efforts made by all the 64 districts of the country.
The Government is providing affected areas with proper prevention methods and is also offering free treatment to the people suffering from anthrax. The Government of Bangladesh in order to take further steps had announced a national co-ordination committee to counter the spread of the disease on the 19th of September.
Anthrax is known to be a disease that spreads easily and is spread when humans come in touch with an infected animal or consume contaminated meat.
