SEE Virtual Worlds is creating a “Michael Jackson-themed planet”

In a Tuesday announcement, the California-based massively multiplayer online (MMO) game developer SEE Virtual Worlds said that it is creating a “Michael Jackson-themed planet”, set for release in late 2011.

According to the details forwarded by SEE Virtual World, the company had a deal with Jackson’s estate to create “Planet Michael,” which will essentially be an Internet world based on the music, life, and interests of the legendary pop singer Michael Jackson, who died of cardiac arrest on July 25, 2009, at the age of 50.

As per SEE, “Planet Michael” will exist inside the framework of the Entropia Universe, an MMO world which basically allows users to either pay actual dollars for in-game currency, or also get paid via tasks and rewards.

Though there has been no disclosure thus far about the goals that players will have in “Planet Michael,” it is being reported that the virtual planet will allow people to use animated characters for the purpose of socializing, exploring and playing games in a world which will have continents based on themes from Jackson’s life.

Noting that “Michael was always exploring creative new ways technology could enhance the experiences of his fans,” Jackson estate’s co-executor John McClain said in a statement: “We are thrilled to be working with SEE Virtual Worlds to build a global interactive experience that befits an artist as innovative as Michael Jackson.”
