At Oracle’s annual OpenWorld conference in San Francisco on Wednesday, Dell CEO Michael Dell briefly flashed the company’s second tablet – a 7-inch ‘Looking Glass’ model running the Google Android operating system.
Despite the fact that no hard details of the forthcoming Dell tablet were offered at the conference, it is being speculated that the device will feature a 7-inch TFT WVGA display; Nvidia's Tegra 2 T20 processor; 1.3MP front-facing camera; 4 GB of RAM; and 4 GB of internal storage.
Going by a “leaked” list of the new Dell tablet, the device will be powered by Android 2.1 “Éclair” OS; and will support a microSD slot supporting up to 32 GB, and will also support for 3G/Wi-Fi/AGPS/TV Tuner connectivity.
It is being reported that the Dell “Looking Glass” tablet will likely be launched in November.
The new tablet will join Dell’s already-selling “Streak” tablet which the company launched in the US last month. The Android-based ‘Streak’ features a 5-inch screen, and can even make and receive calls. The tablet is priced at $549.99 from Dell’s online store, and at $299.99 with a two-year AT&T contract.
Furthermore, as per a recent announcement from Dell, the ‘Streak’ will also be made at the Best Buy stores from next month.
