The Chief Executive Officer of the firm, Larry Ellison said that it was planning to acquire semiconductor firms and makers of industry.
The 66 year old Chief, while being at Oracle’s annual meeting in San Francisco said that people would see them buying chip firms.
Ellison while speaking in the meeting said that he wanted to follow Steve Jobs, the CEO of Apple, like he owned intellectual properties relating computer chips.
Apple acquired semiconductor makers, so as to boost the process of development of its products like iPad and iPhone.
Already, Oracle has bought some chip expertise from Sun, which is a servers maker.
Doug Freedman, an Analyst at Gleacher & Co. in San Francisco said that Oracle might purchase a semiconductor firm with technology for servers.
He said that potential names’ list comprises AMD, International Business Machines Corp.’s chip division and Nvidia Corp.
Sunnyvale, California-based AMD Spokesperson, Drew Prairie said that the firm did never comment on rumors.
Ellen said that Oracle intended to purchase more software makers that would pertain to particular industries.
Redwood City, California-based Oracle fell 8 cents yesterday in NASDAQ Stock Market trading.
For this year, the shares have jumped by 11%.
