People’s Health at the Top of the List of Nestle

With the aim of mounting its food and pharmaceutical expertise, Nestlé SA has announced on Monday that it has decided to spend hundreds of millions of Swiss Francs on its new project.

The Company has decided to come up with products, which will provide health benefits to people. Although, food and pharmaceuticals is a high-margin segment; but it has always been controversial with consumers and regulators.

The Nestlé Institute of Health Sciences and Nestlé Health Science SA are the new units created by Nestlé. The main objective of these new units is to make products, which could help people in overcoming serious ailments like cardiovascular disease, diabetes and Alzheimer's disease.

Nestlé Chairman, Peter Brabeck said, “The combination of health economics, changing demographics and advances in health science show that our existing health-care systems, which focus on treating sick people, are not sustainable and need redesigning”.

He further said that Nestle has been looking forward for different alternatives to serve the public with the help of its expertise, the science, the organization and the resources.

Creating food products that will improve the health of people has become the main aim of Nestle and to achieve that, it will invest hundreds of millions of Swiss Francs in next ten years.
