The students and staff of an Edmonton school have a real reason to conduct a Terry Fox walk.

Mary Lou Forest, Principal of Archbishop O’Leary Catholic High School was detected with cancer and is now under treatment, trying to recover her health and thus not attending the school.

On Thursday, the school led a Terry Fox Walk named as “Run For Forest Run” to bring her back.

Back in July, the Principal came to know about her disease and later in August, she underwent mastectomy. Now, she has to receive chemotherapy treatment.

Forest said, “I’m really touched they decided to go ahead and not only do something for cancer but also in my name, which is really heartwarming”.

The walk was participated in by more than 1,600 students of the school. They dressed in fundraising T-shirts, made especially for the event. They made five rounds of the outdoor track and raised funds. After that they got a group photo clicked.

John Fiacco, the acting Principal expressed that the event was supported by staff members and students and was a good opportunity for the whole school to get engaged.
