Bios, which has been booting up PCs for almost 25 years now will soon be replaced by a new technology, the BBC website has reported.
It has been said that by next year, we would have computers that will boot in seconds with the help of Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI).
As soon as some external device is added to the system, Bios starts to limit future developments and gives rise to various problems. And there too is no doubt that Bios takes some extra time to kick start modern computers into action.
Mark Doran, Head of UEFI said, “With UEFI we're getting it under a handful of seconds. We're not at instant-on yet but it is already a lot better than conventional BIOS can manage, and we're getting closer to that every day”.
Similar to a vinyl record, the Bios of a computer acts like a traditional method of booting and creates various problems. So perhaps it is high time that some sort of change creeps in the market and helps boot computers faster.
Insyde Software are said to have recently put forth their latest InsydeH2O UEFI firmware solution which will be used for the Intel Atom processor E6xx series.
