According to a filing made by Microsoft Corp. with the Securities and Exchange Commission on Friday, the Redmond, Washington based software giant stated that it has sold its entire stake in Comcast Corp.
Microsoft stated that it had sold all of its 150.9 million Class A shares, a 7.26 % stake, at the end of 2007. The company was holding 21.6 million shares of Comcast's Special Class A shares that carried no voting rights outside of special circumstances. And, the company did not own more than 5% of these Special Class A shares, it was not required to report its holdings.
In the recent filing, Microsoft said, “It owned no Comcast shares and it no longer owned more than 5 percent of Comcast’s stock.”
However, the company’s recent filing didn’t disclose much about what it got for the shares or when traded them. According to the market reports, Comcast shares traded between $13 - $18 over the past 3 months.
Microsoft injected $1 billion in Comcast in June 1997, when Philadelphia-based Company was a sizable player in cable television.
