In a surprising turn of events, Panasonic has announced that it would be the sponsor for the newly launched 3D channel by Sky. Prior to this development, it was clearly publicized that Sky would be having LG as its major sponsor.

Panasonic would be launching its Viera range of 3D televisions in the UK, just a few days prior to the holiday season. The Japanese giant of electrical goods has announced that it would be sponsoring 3D movies that would be showcased on Sky 3D.

The clientele with Sky+HD can view the 3D Channel at a cost of zilch, already. The main USP for free viewing are live events related to sports, which is also the key ingredient in the current advertising campaign by BSkyB.

However, competition from Virgin Media has started to creep up with Sky. The Company has already launched an on demand 3D movie channel, which is currently screening just a single movie. The movie being aired by Virgin Media is the latest flick, Street Dance 3D for a screening price of £5.99.

The value of money for the service being provided by Virgin Media in collaboration with Samsung has definitely earned a lot of applause. Besides the value of money, the quality also scores an A-Grade for the service being offered by Virgin Media.
