Most of the notebooks including PC's and many new Android based tablets which are due to hit the markets soon, are believed to come with an in-built camera. This in-built camera would be perfect for video conferencing via Skype.
While this is perhaps good news for many people, it won’t be able to please Cisco and Logitech. The enterprise Network Company are said to be selling some cheap China made hardware. They too have come up with a device which would enable video conferencing system for the home.
This device, namely telepresence systems is to be launched very soon and it is said to be, very similar to what large corporate usually use for video conferencing. But with Companies such as Panasonic, LG and Samsung coming up with their video conferencing capabilities into TV's, there is little probability that Cisco and Logitech would be able to generate sales.
Rob Enderle, analyst at the Enderle Group said "I think we're at the front end of a videoconferencing wave and the only thing holding it back is interoperability standards at the moment”.
The two rivals will first have to fight with each other and then with the other very popular and established Companies, who too have come up with the same concept of videoconferencing.
