Mental Illness Awareness Week 2010 in Full Swing

This week is being marked as the mental awareness week throughout the Stateline. The week was first observed by Arkansas First Lady Ginger Beebe, who made the public announcement of the week in Little Rock.

The main aim of Mental Awareness Week is to bring a change in the mind set the people in the country have regarding their mental illness. Besides, the celebration seeks to promote public awareness among the people regarding the same.

"Mental illness is more common than what people may realize. I think the other issue is breaking down the walls of stigma that's associated with mental illness", posted NAMI Northern Illinois President, Eileen King.

Several serious cases which are often being ignored are being used as a medium to spread awareness.

In addition, the group aims to alter the conventional perception of mental illness in the United States. However, midst of some being aware the knowledge about mental illness, there is a large proportion of the population that is still incognizant about the real cause of mental illness.

The committee for Mental Awareness Week hails the presence of numerous reps from the Rivendell hospital, along with a many other healthcare firms.
