Okanagan Valley gets space on ‘Earthopoly’ board game

In celebration of Power Smart Month, BC Hydro has released a limited edition of the board game “Earthopoly: Team Power Smart Edition,” for the Team Power Smart members. The board game features the Okanagan Valley as one of the 40 British Columbia locations.

With over 250,000 British Columbians already having reportedly joined Team Power Smart, thereby making a commitment to cut down their energy consumption by at least 10 percent, Lisa Coltart, executive director of BC Hydro’s Power Smart and Customer Care, said: “We would like to build on that (membership) even further.”

Coltart further added: “We recognize the importance of keeping people engaged and providing new conservation solutions and ideas. This limited edition of Earthopoly provides a great way for families and friends to have some fun while reinforcing those positive practices.”

Earthopoly costs $19.99 (plus tax) with discounts available for games purchased in bulk. A limited number of games are exclusively available to the Team Power Smart members as a collector’s item till December 31, while stocks last.

Each of the 40 locations featured in Earthopoly contains educational information related to conservation of the properties as well as their brief history. Other than the Okanagan Valley, the locations featured in the game also include the Peace River, the W. A. C. Bennett Dam, and the province of B. C. itself.
