Health Center Receives Grants worth $4.6 Million

Following the overhaul of the Federal Health Care Law, the Edward M. Kennedy Community Health Center is likely to receive some fresh funding. The health-center is likely to receive grants amounting to $4.6million.

This amount would help the health center in further catering to the people in Worcester and neighboring areas. The funds available would also help the health-center in joining its two separate divisions together in the Framingham area. Apart from the medical benefits, the health-center would also provide short term and long term employment.

The President and the CEO of the Worcester based health center, Toni McGuire while talking about the grants stated that the health center had been eagerly awaiting the grants, in order to finish their project quickly. She further exalted that everyone in the health-center was extremely excited.

The center had earlier been contemplating to construct a new facility at the vacant lot neighboring Chicken Bone. However, the center has dropped the plan and would be concentrating to upgrade a former premise of the center on 354 Waverly St.

Ms. McGuire stated that the organization was keen on purchasing the premise on 354 Waverly St. and was hopeful that the organization would be successful in acquiring the building by the end of this month, following which the renovations work would be started.
