With the new plans by the opposition, there could be a negative impact to the maternity and children's hospital services in north Wales.
The proposals are being discussed by the Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB), but nothing has been concluded till now.
Apprehensive over the loss in services, parents have organized a campaign group in Wrexham at the Maelor Hospital of the town.
In support of the children’s ward and special care baby unit, a number of parents have joined together, as the facility has provided much to them.
As per the current facilities, children that require specialist treatment could be taken directly to the children's ward, on account of occurrence of complications. But, according to the new plans, specialist care would get centralized and the special care baby units, acute maternity services and children wards would be shifted to one of the region's three main hospitals.
There is a provision of a 24-hour children's ward at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd, Bodelwyddan, with the units that would run in the day at Ysbyty Gwynedd, Bangor, and Wrexham Maelor, according to another proposal.
The campaign that includes an online petition naming Save Wrexham hospital's children services has been joined by 700 people in two weeks. Similar is the case with a Facebook group, Save Our Children's Ward, which has been backed by more than 1,000 supporters.
The new plans are being criticized as for some parents it would be difficult to get a service at a farther place and some others are concerned about handling the situation in critical times like emergencies.
