Los Angeles - Eddie House likes to shoot off his mouth when he's in the game. On Wednesday night, he let his shooting do the talking.
House hit seven three-pointers en route to season-high 25 points, including 20 in the second quarter, and the Boston Celtics beat the Miami Heat 98-83 for their sixth straight victory.
"Guys found me in open spots," said House, after making 9-of-15 field goals and 7-of-11 from behind the arc. "They were fronting the post and we were moving the basketball."
"Eddie was phenomenal," Celtics Doc Rivers offered. "When Eddie is shooting the ball well, and you have Ray (Allen) and Paul (Pierce), it makes it very difficult for teams to help."
Allen had a game-high 27 with five triples for the reigning NBA Champion Celtics (35-9) who buried a season-high 15-for-25 from downtown in the wire-to-wire win. Kevin Garnett had 16 points with 13 rebounds, while Pierce added 14 points.
"A lot of times, we have mismatches because teams are doubling Kevin down low on the post, and Eddie and I are recipients," Allen said. "We got shots from the perimeter, and I'm always ready for that."
Dwyane Wade led Miami (22-19) with 25 points, Daequan Cook had 20, while rookie Michael Beasley contributed 17 with 11 rebounds.
Boston raced to a 29-10 lead after one quarter, and extended it to 57-34 by half-time, with House hitting six threes and a jumper in the second stanza.
Twice the Heat drew within 11 in the third quarter, and both times House drilled triples as the Celtics carried a 78-64 into the final frame.
Again, the Heat pulled within 11, but Garnett hit a jumper and Allen followed with back-to-back three-pointers in a game-sealing 8-0 run, making it 95-76 with 3:56 left.
Elsewhere: Cleveland Cavaliers 104, Portland Trail Blazers 98
LeBron James had 34 points with 14 assists, Mo Williams added a season-high 33, including his sixth three-pointer of the night with 49 seconds remaining, carrying the visiting Cavaliers (32-8) over the Trail Blazers.
Brandon Roy topped Portland (25-17) with 23 points, and LaMarcus Aldridge had 21. (dpa)
