With several Geminis and a Golden Globe in her bag, Nepean, Ont. Born actress Sandra Oh can now add ACTRA's award of excellence to her collection. In an acting career spanning 15-years, the 37-year-old graduate of Montreal's National Theatre School, is now playing the part of nakedly ambitious doctor Cristina Yang in ABC's medical drama Grey's Anatomy. Delighted to be recognized for her work by her own country, she misses Canada where she has friends and family, however, after 10-years of living in Los Angeles
83 degrees Fahrenheit, she doesn't miss the cold. Nevertheless, she says: 'It will always be important to me to be recognized by my country. I'm Canadian!'
While, she still does stints of work in Canada, just recently appearing in 'Defendor', an independent film shot in Hamilton, Toronto, opposite Woody Harrelson, she plays a psychiatrist, helping a man who believes him self to be a sort of super-hero.
