Volkswagen’s seventh generation Passat, which had been launched, last month at the Paris Motor Show is now available for booking. The prices have been revealed which begin from £18,470 for the saloon and £19,745 for the estate.
Well equipped with battery regeneration and standard stop/start systems, the diesel engines in the cue are all said to belong to the Bluemotion Technology banner.
The engine fitted with a six speed manual gearbox, some cycle figures of 65.7mpg and 114g/km CO2 have been alleged by the entry-level 1.6-litre TDI 105hp. Emitting 109g/km CO2, the new BlueMotion model which is due to be put up for sale by next year is likely to return 68.8mpg.
There are in total three trim levels for the new Passat range, these are S, SE and Sport. The S model carries an additional kit which comprises of an iPod interface and leather multifunction steering wheel.
The SE on the other hand has the new driver fatigue detection system, an eight speaker digital radio, Bluetooth connectivity.
Estimates and predictions have been made by the manufacturer who believes that the estate might outsell the saloon and SE 2.0-litre 140hp may come out to be the best seller.
