The fuzzy storms when blows in two town of Texas Gulf Coast , coats the lawns, vehicles and traffic lights with red colored dust, being generated by metal plants in surrounding areas.

In Hungary the waste generated during and after processing of alumina is packed with zinc, iron and caustic mercury soda and is stored in reservoirs in the form of mud but contrary to this, in U. S. the waste is stored in the form of dried mud, which latter turns into red dust.

Sam Mannan, a chemical engineer and director of the Process Safety Center at Texas A&M University in College Station said, "Chemicals are a necessity in terms of development."

Pittsburgh-based Alcoa has invested $100 million for the cleaning of the bay. It has removed 200,000 cubic yards of contaminated sand and has stored it into a manmade land mass, Dredge Island, of 400-acres in the bay.
