Cablevision and News Corporation Reach Loggerheads

The dispute between Cablevision and the News Corporation has reached an ugly situation, as programming has suffered immensely due to the bitter state of affairs between the two. Customers with Cablevision have not been able to view New Corporation’s channels because of the fight and now face the chances of not witnessing the World Series as well.

The three million customers with cablevision in the New York Metropolitan area have not been able to view any of the Fox channels, since the past one week. Things happen to seem worse, as according to the information available the two Companies have not communicated with each other since Thursday.

Payments worth millions of dollars would be at stake because of the dispute. The current circumstances have yet again somehow indicated towards the need for stricter laws by the Federal Government towards the right of Americans to view television, especially the channels they have already paid for.

Both the Companies are at loggerheads with each other as Cablevision feels that the move by New Corporation is an unjust one, whereas News Corporation feels that it deserves a better price for the shows it offers. Cablevision has requested the Government to intervene in the scenario.

News Corporation has advised customers, who would not like to change their service provider to shift to an antenna. Though, the Federal Communications Commission has taken a serious view of the current situation and has asked the two to reach a compromise by Monday evening and provide an evidence of good faith negotiations.
