Virgin will soon be releasing the latest TiVo set top box developed by Cisco which has HD and 3D features and at the same time offering 1TB worth of internal storage, 12 times more than the normally available personal video recorders.
The TiVo boxes will be pronounced at the same time as the brand new 100Mbps broadband services.
TiVo debuted in UK at the start of the millennium thanks to Thomson and BSkyB but was soon dismissed after BSkyB released the Sky+ PVR set top box a few years later.
The pricing details and the availability are yet to be announced, one can expect them very soon.
Virgin Media explains that the box has the ability to record more than 500 hours of content and will have an internal modem which will offer HD video and online services without going through customers' broadband lines.
The company said, "Competitors' 'connected TV' products rely on just one central broadband connection, typically DSL, making it difficult for families to watch online TV or TV on Demand and take advantage of the internet at the same time".
