EA's Ben Cousins, the executive producer on the Battlefield franchise, has stated that EA will launch a new Battlefield title on Friday.

Cousins confirmed reports through the microblogging site Twitter, saying that he is flying to London to promote the title, which will be released in public later this week. He further claimed that the game isn't Battlefield 3.

The posting reads:"Flying to London later today to show a new, unannounced #Battlefield game to the press. News goes public on Friday. (NOT #BF3)" read the update.

He later confirms the fact that he is "NOT going to London to announce any game called 'Battlefield Assault'" and stressed that "it's a completely new title".

Meanwhile not much detail has been released on Battlefield 3, DICE has assured PC gamers it won't be released for a console format.
