Murray River Jet Ski Crash Leaves Teenager Dead

A night-time joy ride along Murray River on the NSW-Victoria border, impaled and killed a 13-year-old girl, being towed by a jet ski along with her 14-year-old friend, when they hit a submerged object, possibly a tree trunk, a kilometre west of Cadell.

Suffering suspected head and internal injuries, the girl from Ferntree Gully , Victoria , was on a floating device pulled by the jet ski, when she hit a submerged log. . While, she died shortly after being brought to Echuca Hospital in Victoria, her 14-year-old girlfriend from Narre Warren in Victoria , who also sustained internal injuries, remains in stable condition in the same hospital.

Extra safety officers from New South Wales Maritime will be on waterways patrol duty over the Australia Day long weekend, for breath testing skippers and checking safety equipment.
