EMC’s Henderson retires, reflects, refocuses

IT industry EMC’s veteran, David Henderson, is about to retire from full-time work. His last official working day will be 24th December, though he will continue to act as a consultant for its channel business. Henderson feels that there are many people in the business who require mentoring on their board.

Henderson has worked for IT industry for over 30 years now. And he considers himself lucky to have worked with the channel and describes his experience of working with the people as being fantastic. He describes his industry as a community of entrepreneurs and people who are trying to make a difference and create jobs by taking risks.

Henderson started his career in the 1970s in the marketing department of 3M. Since then he worked in various departments like sales, operations and management. After 15 years at 3M, in the late 1980s, Henderson got into Toshiba as the marketing director, and within a mere ninth months, he got promoted to the post of the local general manager.

After working for 2 years as managing director of a US-based PC company, AST (which eventually got sold out to Samsung) Henderson got into 3Com.

He ultimately joined EMC in 2002.
