John Lewis’ Christmas Commercial Given 10-1 Odds of Topping the Charts

The new Christmas commercial of John Lewis was first exhibited on Friday in the windows of John Lewis' Ocford Street store.

The commercial was launched on the TV on Saturday during the ad break of the X Factor. The soundtrack of the ad, which the bookmakers William Hill has given 10-1 odds of ranking first in the list is the Elton John's 'Your Song' sung by Ellie Goulding.

The ad film has been made in Scotland featuring a number of people purchasing gifts for their loved ones and finding difficulty in packing the same. The ad runs for 60 seconds.

Andu Street, John Lewis Managing Director expressed that he was delighted that they had been given odds by William Hill.

“There will be huge competition for the chart-topping song this Christmas, and I believe Ellie Goulding's version of Your Song, which complements our advert so perfectly, will be a strong contender", said Mr. Street.

Even earlier this year, the soundtrack in John Lewis' commercial 'A lifelong commitment to fair prices' was also proved to be a hit.

John Lewis, the retailer stated that the ad had also proved advantageous in their store, where the sales of Christmas trees and decorations had increased significantly. It sales jumped up by 11.5% in the week ending to Saturday.
