It was at the Web 2.0 Summit Yahoo's CEO Carol Bartz stated "Facebook" rings the bell of "competition." The words were blurted in presence of John Battelle whilst discussions. Google, meanwhile, offered a yes towards "great company."
The time has taken a toll as few years ago the CEO before she arrived at Yahoo, the company was offering Facebook $1 billion for a complete take over. Facebook turned down the offer and presently the rumors hint that social network is priced more than $40 billion and offlate has released new products which competes directly with a few of Yahoo's stronghold in the markets such as e-mail.
Yahoo with its current business trend is on the verge of more layoffs.
Bartz claimed that Yahoo's measure for turnarounds doesn't offer expected results. The firm is said to be "traveling up (Highway) 101 at 100 miles an hour, changing the tires," she said. ("We've heard that one before," Battelle said of her metaphor.)
She further added that Yahoo is a concoction of content, communications, media, technology, (and) innovation. Although, it offers a bit thought when people earmark it to be a 'search company.'
The firm has clinched the deal with Microsoft a year early with its search feature and Microsoft's own Bing search engine, a research firm added.
Bartz aims towards launching new features like the "optimization" technologies to elevate its status as a hub for content and information, with achievements gotten in sections such as Yahoo Sports and Yahoo Finance.
