As the John Lewis's Christmas advertisement of a dejected dog left alone in the snow conveyed a wrong message about the care of the animals, so the retailer pulled down the advert after complaints made against it.
Now, the advert has been altered to a 30 second slot that depicts scene without the dog. Earlier, the advert showed that the dog has been left alone in the snow on a blanket. A young boy comes near to him and hangs a stocking over the kennel and then leaving him stared by a Deerhound.
It was first shown after ITV1's X Factor earlier this month with a message in the end `For those who care about showing they care' and in its background song played "Your Song" by Ellie Goulding. The advert was created by advertising agency Adam & Eve.
The commercial was not liked by animal welfare campaigners and some customers also proposed the same on grounds of conveying wrong message. In fact, Julie Hill, from DogCast Radio also established a Facebook site `stop the John Lewis Christmas Ad'.
She lodged complaint against the advert with the Advertising Standards Agency and the Dogs Trust.
She said, "Dogs belong in the house with their people - not out in the snow in a ramshackle, doorless, bare kennel - even if it is adorned with fairy lights".
