Three follows T-Mobile and Orange in announcing subsidized iPads

Joining the league of T-Mobile and Orange, Three has also recently announced that it will be offering cut-price iPads, subsidized by airtime contracts. However, like the other two carriers, Three also stopped short of detailing the extent of the subsidy it will offer.

A short release disclosing Three's cut-price iPad plans went thus: "Three UK today announced it will offer new purchase options for iPad users, including more affordable prices when purchased with a data service plan, for iPad with Wi-Fi + 3G models in the coming months."

The move, which will essentially allow customers to decide how to buy the iPad, will - as per various speculations, based on the price of the iPhone - entail a nearly £329 markdown from the list price of the 3G-enabled iPads, which may be sold for nearly £150-£200 on a two-year contract, including data.

The operators - which are presently offering only iPad-friendly micro Sim cards, either on a pay-as-you-go or on one-month contract - will reportedly fund the price cuts by selling 18-month and two-year contracts on the back of the cut-price iPads.

Though Three has also not shared any details about the release date of the new iPad price plans in the UK, it is worth noting that the network has beaten its bigger rivals like Vodafone and O2 to the punch!
