A red "Closed" sign was posted outside the store. The store would not get a green signal until the Toronto Board of health gives s clearance to it. The store "will remain closed until further notice," said a statement released Tuesday night by Loblaw Companies Ltd., the store's parent company. "Rigorous steps are being taken to thoroughly complete the action items requested by Toronto Public Health."

Health inspector Chan describes the infestation as a "bad one" with droppings in food preparation areas as well. He also elaborated that the company is liable to face a fine of up to $25,000 on the charges related to infestation and improper food handling.

However, the health department clarified that the chances of illness resulting from the infestation are very bleak. But the customers have been warned to discard any packages if they appear to be damaged or to have come in contact with rodents.
