Los Angeles (dpa) - On a rainy night outside, sharpshooter Eddie House was raining down three-pointers inside.
House scored a season-high 28 points, including a career-best eight from behind the arc, and the surging Boston Celtics extended their winning streak to nine, by giving the visiting Sacramento Kings a royal thrashing, 119-100, on Wednesday night.
"I've been knocking the ball down with consistency the past four games," said House, who hit 10-of-13 field goals including 8-of-9 from downtown.
"Guys are finding me in my rhythm and I'm taking easy shots."
In those last four contests, House has been ablaze, firing in 22- of-32 triples.
Afterward, Celtics superstars Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce pushed for their teammate to be invited to the Three-Point Shooting contest as part of next month's NBA Weekend in Phoenix, Arizona.
"Eddie House needs to be in the Three-Point contest," Garnett said. "Eddie's been on fire. You want to see all the top shooters in the league shoot it out. That's what it's supposed to be about."
"Eddie's in a special place right," Pierce said. "I know how he feels, every time he shoots the ball, it's going to go in, no matter who is on him. I can tell."
House is not counting on receiving an invitation: "If they invite me, great," he said. "If they don't, it's a chance to rest up."
Rajon Rondo had 24 points with nine assists, while Garnett added 14 and eight rebounds for reigning NBA Champion Boston (38-9), which received 61 points from its bench.
Boston trailed 30-28 after one before House came in to provide the firepower in the second quarter.
He buried all four three-pointers en route to 16 points, when the Celtics outscored the Kings 40-19 to build a 68-49 half-time cushion.
House nailed four more threes in a 16-8 fourth-quarter burst, pushing a 12-point lead to 110-88 cushion with 5:40 remaining.
It prompted the fans at the TD Banknorth Garden to chant, "Ed-die, Ed-die, Ed-die."
"Of course it feels good," House said. "But it feels better to get the win."
John Salmons scored 22 points, rookie Jason Thompson had 21 with 11 rebounds for Western Conference-worst Sacramento (10-37), which lost its seventh straight and dropped to 0-20 against the Eastern Conference opponents.(dpa)
