Mitsubishi and Nissan will strengthen their ties

Both Mitsubishi Motors Corp and Nissan Motors Corp announced that they are going to strengthen their ties in operations so that both the firms can better utilize their resources as the Japanese currency Yen rising up and making it difficult for them to compete in the market.

The number three automakers of Japan, Nissan and the number six vehicle maker Mitsubishi ranked the mentioned positions in 2009 have been working in unison since the year of 2003. They under the badge of Nissan Japan builds Mitsubishi Motors' six hundred and sixty cc mini vehicles.

Through out the world auto manufacturers are trying to get into operational partnerships for saving costs. They are sharing their components or their vehicle platforms. Nissan along with its forty three percent owner Renault went into a partnership with Daimler for sharing vehicles and engines earlier this year.

With the persisting strength of Yen and fall in domestic sales, the automakers of Japan are loosing money producing cars in Japan and are seeing ways and means to reduce costs. They are even shifting some of their production overseas to lower cost markets.

However the home front is not also peaceful for them as they are under constant pressure from the government for protecting the jobs of Japanese and have to keep their plants open.

Under the new deal Mitsubishi Motors will be provided with a light van by Nissan for the markets in Japan. Mitsubishi on the other hand will give an SUV to Nissan for selling the vehicle in the markets of Middle East as per statement made by the automakers.

Negotiations are on so that in the Thai factory of Mitsubishi Nissan can make its Navara pickup truck. They are also planning one fifty fifty joint venture for developing and manufacturing six hundred and sixty cc mini vehicles for Japan.
