ITV Player and Channel 4’s 4oD launch on PS3

With the recent launch of TV catch-up services ITV Player and Channel 4's 4oD on the PlayStation 3, the users of the gaming console will be able to access the ITV and Channel 4 services via the TV icon in the media bar of the PS.

The launch of ITV and 4oD on-demand TV services on the PS3 expands the console's online streaming features, which already include the PlayStation Store Video Store, BBC iPlayer, Mubi, LoveFilm, as well as PlayTV.

The arrival of ITV Player and 4oD on the PS3 further makes the Sony console as an increasingly attractive platform for catch-up TV. The console now boasts content streaming from three of the four terrestrial broadcasters - with only Five's on-demand service missing from the list.

The launching of the ITV Player and 4oD on-demand TV services on the PS3 will allow the owners of the console to view stream their favorite ITV shows like Coronation Street, Emmerdale, and Gossip Girl; as well as Channel 4's content including Peep Show, Misfits, or Hollyoaks.

The PS3 users can now begin watching ITV and Channel 4 shows on the console by connecting their device to the Internet; signing into their PSN account; and then selecting the TV icon on the XMB.

The streaming of the ITV and Channel 4 programmes - after they have been telecast on standard terrestrial YV - will be possible only within a month of their telecast. Both the services are free and funded entirely by advertising.
