Chicken Suffering from H5N1 Found Dead on the Shores of Hong Kong

Officials of the health department in Hong Kong have recently discovered a chicken on its shores, which had the H5N1 virus in its system. The officers are currently trying to figure out about how the chicken got to the shore.

The mysterious thing about the discovery of the chicken was that there is no chicken farm within a 3-km radius of the place where the dead bird was found on the 18th of December. Apart from that none of the residents in the nearby villages have kept a backyard poultry farm.

It needs to be remembered that backyard poultry has been banned in the country since the year 2006, when the avian flu had spread like fire in the South East Asian country. The officials with the Agricultural Department have already confirmed the presence of the virus in the carcass.

It needs to be remembered that the H5N1 virus had been reported for the first time in seven years, when a woman was found to be suffering from the virus last month, when she returned from China. The past 7 years have witnessed the death of 300 people because of the Avian flu.

The authorities have also informed that it would be increasing the strictness around backyard farming in the region to ensure that the virus does not spread.
