Lady luck does have her own ways to make a person “Set for Life” it seems, however unexpected it might be. Robert Leggett and his wife, Patricia discovered this in the most pleasant manner.
On his last day of work Jan. 22 Robert was asked by a co-worker to pitch in for a Lotto 6-49. After leaving from work that evening Robert realized that he had forgotten about the whole proposition.
However, the next day he went out and purchased a 6-49, as well as a $5 Set for Life scratch ’n win ticket. He checked the 649 ticket to see if it was a winner the same night and found out that he had won ten dollars, but he did not bother to scratch and find out the result. After a week of carrying that ticket, worth a million dollar, in his pocket he remembered it and found out that he had become a millionaire.
“I had gone around shopping, gone for walks and I really didn’t think anything of it. It wasn’t until I had gone out Wednesday and remembered, ‘hey I still have that ticket I haven’t scratched.’ So I scratched it and that’s when it happened, late Wednesday afternoon,” said Robert.
When he broke the news to his wife she could not believe their luck. "He told me we had won the lottery, and I said 'no stop messing about, be serious' and he told he was serious and when he told me how much I nearly fell off my chair. I couldn't work for the rest of the afternoon," said Patricia.
Well, Life’s like that!
