Health Ministry of the island nation Sril Lanka has confirmed the death of 22 people from swine flu in the past 2 months. Also around 300 people in the country are presently suffering from it.
The official data released by the government sources dates back to October 25.2010 according to which 342 cases of the swine flu have been confirmed. The government expert epidemiologist, Sudath Peiris, explaining the condition said that the influenza directly weakens the lungs system of a human being. It is so dangerous that it can also lead to viral pneumonia.
The weather of Sri Lanka is also playing a prominent role in the spread of contagious swine flu infection. It is rains heavily in most parts of the year which further intensifies the cold and cough infections among the people.
Issuing special notices to the owners of public telephone booths, the ministry has ordered them to sanitize and disinfect the booths at least 8 times in a day to help stop the spread of swine flu infection. Also the people have been advised to avoid much crowded areas till the infection is not controlled.
World Health Organization is also urging all the nations of the world to take special care in the beginning itself not forgetting that it became a pandemic last year taking thousands of lives.
The ministry urged people to avoid crowded places and ordered those managing public phone booths to disinfect them at least eight times daily. Colombo, the capital city has reported the maximum number of swine flu cases.
