Whole Foods Market Recalls Gingerbread Houses Suspected To Cause Food Poisoning

Whole Foods Market has made a gingerbread house recall as the associated products have been suspected to cause a Staphylococcus aureus food poisoning.

The products were produced from the inventory of Rolf’s Patisserie and they were supplied to 23 states, including Arkansas, Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Indiana, Florida, Kansas, Louisiana, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, Texas, Utah and Wisconsin.

All the products were sold either with a Whole Foods Market scale label or mentioning of Rolf’s Patisserie name in the labels. The recalled products were made after November 1, 2010.

One who gets infected with a Staphylococcus aureus food poisoning shows symptoms such as vomiting, nausea, diarrhea and stomach cramps. The illness remains for one to two days but in extreme cases one can be laid back on bed for three days.

People who are more vulnerable to the infection are aged persons, very young and those having weak immune system.

Anyone who has bought the recalled gingerbread house has been urged to discard the same or return it to the Whole Foods Market so as to get money back.
