It is quite strange to know that though, the government is planning to launch a campaign against smoking by printing larger warning signs on cigarette packs. But, at the same time the provincial government of Ottawa is not allowing people to drink raw milk.
Though, the prohibition on the sale and distribution of raw milk is all in good intentions. But the government should realize the fact that people consume raw milk under no illusions and they take the pain of procuring it because they want it and not because they are being fooled or anything. At the end of the day people buying raw milk are consenting adults, who prefer raw milk over pasteurized milk.
The laws of our land are very confusing, as a farmer is allowed to drink and feed his children raw milk. But, unfortunately he cannot distribute the milk to anyone, who would prefer raw milk.
It was way back in the year 2006, when a campaigner for raw milk, Michael Schmidt was arrested by two dozen officers for selling the product. All the produce that was on his farm in Ontario was seized and everything was confiscated by law enforcement authorities. However, it was only a year ago that Schmidt was acquitted of all the charges that had been leveled against him.
Talking to the court Schmidt had informed that he was not selling milk, but just providing people their share of the cow, as they all owned a portion of it. Though, officials with the government have appealed again at the expense of the public's money to protect the public from something that they want.
